Mobiles in class? Why not?

My students love to say that what is forbidden is really enticing and attractive to them. I used this to make them study, write and talk in English.

There are  QR codes all around us and I used them twice in my classes so far. The students had so much fun while working in class, using their mobiles, that I am sure I will do this activity in some other form again.

QR codes are easy to make by using a QR code generator. This is the one I use - http://www.qr-code-generator.com/.

 I typed a question, then clicked on "Create code" and downloaded it in a "jpg" format.
I made 7 QR codes and stuck them to the wall in the classroom. In order to read them, the students have to have an inigma QR code reader. They downloaded this application to their mobiles from Google Play.  They have to scan the code in order to read it.

My QR codes were actually questions the students had to answer. Next to each QR code there was a blank sheet of paper. Every student had to go through the seven codes, scan them and answer each question. On the blank sheet of paper the students write their names first and then - their answers.
After everyone is ready, we discuss the answers.
My topic was Daily routines and the students had a lot to say.
We all enjoyed it!
